MÓÐIR is finally here & ORIGINAL HATE update!
Well, little did I know, two days after the last newsletter thing I did, Russia would attempt to invade Ukraine. ( Yeah I say “attempt” ) Fingers crossed this isn’t an omen and that a couple days from now, after this one, China doesn’t try something against Taiwan or something. That’s all we need. ( And actually, that’s the real big threat to global war, so in many ways, those brave folks on the ground fighting back in Ukraine are showing China it isn’t a good idea to invade people who prefer to live free, in their own countries. So in that sense, a lot more is at stake than just a war in eastern Europe if you ask me. )
But my hat is off to the valiant people of Ukraine for defending their country and giving the finger to an authoritarian who wants to decide their destiny for them. I’m working on something to help raise some money for Ukrainian civilians caught in the middle of this horrible war. But more on that soon. I couldn’t figure out what I could do for the longest time, and then a chance opportunity just made perfect sense.
Anyway… now that the books are all on their way to members of The Squid Army due to them, yup, I made a trailer for MÓÐIR. A 40 page Viking type one-shot written by my wife, Ashley Allison and uh, drawn by me. I think it’s a nice little tale for her debut book!
If you’re interested, I just put the limited edition run up on 78SQUID.ink. All books signed and numbered, and there’s fancy wax-sealed packs with prints and extras, as well as original art from the book as well.
And if you’re a Squid Army member, don’t forget to check the Patreon for the discount code! ( Yup, members get discounts or things on a private store instead, even if they’re not due actual physical books. )
Now, last but not least, ORIGINAL HATE is coming. ( If you were one of the amazing folks who grabbed a copy! ) Still coming…sigh. Apparently, Indiegogo uses a weird different bank routing number, so actually getting the damn funds to put the book into production has been a fiasco of back and forth, showing bank statements ( and even that wasn’t enough at the time! ) but it *should* all be figured out now. So funds should arrive sometime next week, by thursday.
So, I was going to close the “in demand” feature on the Indiegogo site for the project, once I had the print run set, and since that’s been dragged out, so technically this is the last call for anyone who wants a copy in its initial release. You can still grab it here.
Everything is set. All the extras, the tip in/book plates, the printer… I just need the damn funds to click “buy” on all the stuff and then the show hits the road.
In the meantime, I’ve been doing all the extra work, as two amazing folks got individual custom edition variant covers to their books, so I’ve been busy finishing up their large paintings and getting those ready to print on top of being overwhelmed with all the other stuff I need to be doing.
Anyway, stay sane, stay safe, and hail squid.
